DTW 2025 kicked off this year with Simon Moyes joining me in Las Vegas.

After landing in Las Vegas on Sunday, we were straight in on Monday, with a strategic meeting with Tim Loake, Ian Heath, and Matt Warwick, focusing on deepening collaboration with Dell. Entering into the show, it was filled with people from across the globe and the buzz of excitement for the week ahead was infectious. We heard from Micheal Dell and learnt the latest technology announcements that we can delve deeper into throughout the week.

Keynote: Michael Dell – Inventing the Future

Michael Dell emphasised the decentralisation of AI, edge computing, and Dell’s massive scale—highlighting a deal involving 110,000 GPUs. Dell’s AI Factory, now serving 3,000 customers, offers 60% cost savings over public cloud. He discussed enterprise AI growth with Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, noting AI agents are being developed for cybersecurity, engineering, marketing, and more.

  • Dell AI Factory 2.0 with Nvidia.
  • New PowerEdge servers: XE 9780L & 9785L.
  • Project Lightning: A new parallel file system, 2.5x faster than competitors.

Customer Spotlights:

  • JP Morgan Chase: $18B tech budget, 60,000 technologists, 200K employees using LLMs.
  • Lowe’s: AI-powered customer assistance and store operations.
  • Norby: Using Dell Precision to train LLMs for language-teaching robots.

The AI catalyst: Turning data into innovation with the Dell AI Data Platform

Combining PowerScale with the Data Lakehouse architecture, it supports federated queries across structured and unstructured data (with PowerScale). This adds indexing of unstructured data to Data Lakehouse federated query capability.

It enables efficient, secure, and cost-effective data management making it ready for AI consumption. Competitively priced with cloud tools and cloud like automation and scale but on prem. Real-world example like patient 360 views in healthcare were discussed.

What really happens behind the curtain of private-cloud deployments...Very interesting session, more on this tomorrow once it has been officially announced 😊.
