Network Operations Centre (NOC) Manager

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Managed Services Operations you will be responsible all aspects of the CAE NOC, this is a key role within CAE’s Operation focused on driving the adoption, success and advocacy, of designated strategic products, solution, and key customers within the CAE customer base, ultimately leading to the achievement of retention and growth targets.

This will be achieved by leading your teams with the upmost focus on right first-time ethic, implementing best practise processes consistently across the business area and cross-skilling resources to deliver leading NOC services.

The NOC Manager will be an advocate of CAE’s values and behaviours ensuring these penetrate across the team.

The CAE NOC Manager will be a natural motivator with fantastic communication skills and have prior experience within a similar position. The successful candidate will be given the freedom and flexibility to implement their own ideas and strategy supported by the senior team.

What you will be doing?


Full accountability for the 24*7*365 NOC Operation, including effective and efficient management of staff and their processes, systems, and performance, primarily for the delivery of Incident Management, including:

  • Meeting operational performance KPI’s
  • Meeting and exceeding quality standards
  • Development of processes and procedures for Incident Management including the ability to provide Major Incident support including the management of key stakeholders during an outage and any post-outage root cause analysis
  • Development of processes and procedures for proactive remote monitoring of customer Networks
  • Capacity and demand planning for the NOC resource
  • Establishing and implementing best practices throughout the entire technical support process in-line with our SDI / ITIL aligned processes, owning incident, service request fulfilment and problem resolution as a priority
  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly reports on performance and process for IT functional use and business level reporting
  • Acting as an escalation point for the NOC for incidents, major incidents, and our out of hours support function, working with appropriate stakeholders
  • Contribute to defining, developing and fulfilling service offerings with a focus on delivering services aligned to CAE’s strategic vision
  • Accustomed to working in a multi-vendor environment

  • Proven track record in leading and managing technical teams
  • Responsibility for creating an engaging, positive and collaborative working environment that encourages feedback and continuous improvement
  • Motivate and inspire teams to achieve extraordinary results by providing team members with the direction, resources and environment needed for success
  • Adopt a coaching managerial approach and instil confidence in your team members
  • Communicate openly and regularly through team and individual communication i.e., team meetings; one-to-ones; appraisals and development plans

Managing Relationships

  • First class communications skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders across all levels of business
  • Demonstrate an ability to build trust and long-term relationships with customers built on service rendered, delivering these services even at times of high pressure
  • Build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with cross-departmental and internal teams fostering a ‘One Team’ mentality
  • Establish relationships with external partners and suppliers in order to ensure smooth delivery of supplier services

What is needed?

  • Willingness to get things done
  • Experience of managing diverse and independent technical teams
  • Experience of demonstrable CSI strategies
  • Experience of managing 3rd party consultants to internal standards


  • ITIL or Service Desk Institute (SDI) qualification
  • Network and Security Qualifications an advantage
